One hundred years after the discovery of Tutankhamun’s Tomb
With Tutankhamun. Mysteries and treasures on the occasion of the centenary of the discovery of his tomb, dated 4 November 1922 by the archaeologist Howard Carter financed by Lord Carnavon, the child pharaoh Tutankhamun returns to Venice after being among the protagonists of the exhibition on the rulers of ancient Egypt held at Palazzo Grassi in 2002-2003.
And Tutankhamon returns to the splendid rooms of Palazzo Zaguri in Campo San Maurizio, which for many years was the seat of state schools and for some years the seat of a museum.
Tutankhamun. Mysteries and treasures, this is the title of the exhibition that reopens in October, continuing the intention of presenting major thematic exhibitions, while the official and permanent museum of Giacomo Casanova is set up in its rooms.
Story of Tutankhamun the child pharaoh
The pharaoh who ascended the throne at the age of 9 and died shortly before the age of 19 (1332-1323 BC) and who carries the legend of a curse for those who desecrated the tomb discovered in the Valley of the Kings, immediately becomes famous for the extraordinary sumptuousness of the trousseau that accompanied it in the kingdom of the afterlife and for which an entire wing of the Cairo museum was set up since it had more than 5,000 objects.
The funerary mask of Tutankhamun in the Cairo Museum
His funerary mask in gold, colored glass and gems is certainly one of the best known images in the world. Tutankhamun has always been talked about a lot also about his early death, which for a long time made us imagine a violent death, while it was natural but so sudden as to force his subjects to bury him in a tomb that had not been prepared for him.
For Tutankhamun. Mysteries and treasures are present at the museum of Palazzo Zaguri a thousand of original finds including some pieces in world premiere.
