29 September – 2 April 2018
The exhibition, for the occasion of the bicentenary celebrations of this prestigious Venetian museum, the ultimate temple of Venetian painting, re-evokes that season of cultural rebirth stimulated by three well-known intellectuals, which established itself in 1815 after the collapse of the Serene Republic with the return from Paris of the four horses of St. Mark, the city’s artistic symbol, thanks to a selection of important artworks.
The exhibition is presenting over 100 relevant works, laid out in nine themed sections, including the noteworthy reunion and return to Venice, for the first time after two hundred years, of the series of artefacts sent in 1818 to the Viennese court for the fourth wedding of emperor Francis I, known as the “Veneto Provinces Tribute”.
