Eleonora Duse e Arrigo Boito.

23 November 2017 – 20 December 2018

The exhibition, set up in the ambit of the celebrations linked to Arrigo Boito’s centenary (1842-1918), wishes to reconstruct the artistic and personal relationship which involved Eleonora Duse and this famed Veneto libretto-writer, poet and composer, a man of great culture who was a lasting reference for Eleonora and for her theatre.

The exhibition, by the Institute for Theatre and Melodrama, is showing the public the Boito documents it acquired through some important bequests: such materials include autograph work and drafts for his Nero, original photographs, the valuable corpus of letters they both exchanged between 1884 and 1890, and the scripts for Shakespeare’s plays Antony and Cleopatra, Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth.
