FRANCESCO MOROSIN:  last hero of the Serene Republic between history and myth

Reopening from  August 1st

For the occasion of the four hundredth birth anniversary of this famous condottiero, a Venetian Sea captain and doge, gone down in history as “the Peloponnesian” (1619 – 1694), the Correr Museum, holding the entire historical heritage acquired from his family in 1895, is presenting this important exhibition which illustrates certain peculiar aspects of the character’s person and deeds and of his historic dimension with relics, documents and artworks .

With his epic figure, the exhibition is re-evoking the illusion of a return to the glory of the ancient Serene Republic, a military and maritime power within the Mediterranean.
