FUTURUINS – Body and stone

These evocative areas connected with Mariano Fortuny’spast are hosting an exhibition (from 14 December until 24 March) about the value that Western civilization hasassigned to ruins, that is, to the decadence of man’s work, due to nature or toaction by man himself.

The exhibition timeline will try to range through the centuries by means of certain references, so as to offer an idea of the historical complexity of the concept: from early myths on destruction, the effect of divine anger (the Tower of Babel, Sodom and Gomorrah…), up to the “iconoclastic terrorism” at Palmira, including ancient Egypt, Graeco-Roman antiquity, the “instauratio Romae”, the “ruine du Louvre”, war devastations during the past century, the rubble of the Twin Towers.

The layout is by Daniela Ferretti and Dimitri Ozerkov.
