Migrating Objects | Art from Africa, from Oceania and from the Americas in the Peggy Guggenheim Collection

Temporary closure

A new and undisplayed showcase rendez-vous, presenting a less-known part of the American patroness’s collection, who was capable, between the 1950s and 60s, of looking beyond the borders of Europe and the United States, extending her interest towards the art of Africa, Oceania and the native American cultures.

On this occasion, 35 non-Western artworks will be displayed to the public for the first time, in an innovative layout by groups which will highlight the original contexts or, in alternative, in dialogue with some masterpieces from European avant-gardes in the collection, by artists who upheld the development of their modernist language by appropriating such artworks.
