PAINTING PANORAMA | Paintings by Helen Frankenthaler (1952-1992)

A nucleus of 14 artworks, once more presenting this American artist who offered a crucial contribution to the history of American post-war painting in Venice, following her presence in 1966 at the United States pavilion for the 33rd Venice Biennale.

The layout, in a non strictly chronological sequence, features her famous Open Wall from 1953, one of the artist’s first works, a forerunner picture for the Sixties Color Field movement, up to the less known but equally intense and suggestive canvases produced in the early 90s.

The exhibition, by curator John Elderfield, is promoted by the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation. Catalogue by Gagosian editions.
