Qwalala by Pae White

Until 30 November

Commissioned by Rooms of Glass, this new monumental sculpture – the second temporary installation after Hiroshi Sugimoto’s one – created by American artist Pae White for the occasion of the Art Biennale, depicts a curved wall (75 by 2.4 metres) made up of 3000 glass “ingots” handmade in Veneto. The title of the installation is a word conceived by the Pomo native American tribe and refers to the sinuous course of the Gualala river in northern California, which the artwork ideally evokes, both in structure and in shape.
