ABBAZIA DI SAN GIORGIO
Until 13 April
“See Naples and then die”. The exhibition takes its cue from this famous quote, drawn from the Archive of the Abbey of San Gallo and from a travel diary by one of their monks dating back to the 1700s. At that time, Naples and Rome were a privileged destination in the grand tour for Benedictine monks arriving from countries north of the Alps.
The exhibition opens a novel view on the monks’ unexpected and high mobility and on their interest for the Italian language and culture of the time.
