2017-2018 OPERA SEASON

La Traviata: 5-12-13-18-21-28 September, 7pm; 8-16-30 September, 3.30pm.

Opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi with libretto by Francesco Maria Piave, based on La dame aux camélias, a theatre play by Alexandre Dumas (son), which the author himself drew from his prior eponymous novel. Conductor Sesto Quatrini, stage director Robert Carsen, La Fenice TheatreOrchestra and Chorus, Chorus maestro Claudio Marino Moretti.

Madama Butterfly: 6-9-11 September, 7pm; 22-29 September, 3.30pm.

Opera in three acts (originally two) by Giacomo Puccini, with libretto by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica, defined a “Japanese tragedy” in the score and libretto, dedicated to the Queen of Italy Elena of Montenegro.

Maestro and conductor Renato Balsadonna, stage director Àlex Rigola; scenery and costumes by Mariko Mori. La Fenice TheatreOrchestra and Chorus, Chorus maestro Claudio Marino Moretti.

The Barber of Seville: 7-19-27 September, 7pm; Sunday 23 September, 3.30pm.

Opera buffaby Gioachino Rossini with libretto by Cesare Sterbini, drawn from the eponymous comedy by Beaumarchais.

This performance is within the ambit of Rossini Project,organised for the 150th death anniversary of the composer. Conductor Gregory Kunde (27/9), Sesto Quatrini (7, 19, 23 September); stage director Bepi Morassi.
