LIFE AS A WORK OF ART / Anton Maria Zanetti and his collections

A patron and influential go-between for aristocrats and sovereigns in purchasing and commissioning artwork by the most famed artists from the lagoon, Anton Maria Zanetti (1679-1767), was one of the most influential figures within the Venetian art scenario of his time, also thanks to friendships with artists like Canaletto, Rosalba Carriera, Sebastiano and Marco Ricci, Giambattista Tiepolo, and the important relationships he cultivated with European collectors.

On this occasion, the Venice City Museums Foundation is dedicating an exhibition, until 7 January, to him to highlight his activity as an artist and patron, through life testimonials such as volumes, letters, etchings and drawings which are not normally displayed for conservation reasons, and artworks from his collection. Curator, Alberto Craievich.
