ARSHILE GORKY: 1904 – 1948

From Thursday 9 May to 22 September 2019.

First Italian retrospective dedicated to this famous artist, considered among the key figures in 20th century American art. Escaping the Armenian genocide and sheltering in the United States in 1920, Gorky would establish himself – also thanks to his strong links with compositions by masters such as Cézanne, Picasso and Mirò – as a forerunner of abstract expressionism.

The exhibition features about 80 artworks together for this occasion, as well as a selection of works on paper from prestigious international collections.

Exhibition curators, Gabriella Belli and Edith Devaney.
