The collective exhibition “Dancing with Myself” faces the primordial importance of the artist’s role as actor and material of his own creations, from the 1970s to today.
The cycle of exhibitions dedicated to the trends of contemporary art is continuing in the spectacular space of this museum overlooking the basin of Saint Mark. In this case, the inquiry focuses on the importance of self-depiction in artistic production from the Seventies to our days and of the artist‘s role as a protagonist and as the object itself of his work.
The exhibition, which gathers about 100 works from the Pinault Collection, is born out of collaboration with the Folkwang Museum in Essen, which presented it in 2016. The Venetian edition has been reviewed for the occasion by the two curators, Martin Bethenod and Florian Ebnercon, with over 56 new artworks.
