LEON BAKST | Symbol of the Ballet Russes

The reuslt of a successful partnership between the Institute for Theatre and Melodrama of the Cini Foundation and the Saint Petersburg State Museum for Theatre, this exhibition until 16 November set up in the venues of the erstwhile museum-home of count Vittorio Cini, presents this multi-faceted Russian artist, a famed scenographer and costumer for the Ballets Russes. In addition to designs for the creations he made for the famous classical ballet company, founded in 1907 by Sergei Diaghilev, a rich series of photographs, a collection of original costumes and some fashion plates executed for operas which Bakst worked on in the early 1910s, are on display.
