The skin | LUC TUYMANS

A part of the programme dedicated to great contemporary artists promoted by the Pinault Collection, this vast solo show until 6 January 2020 is presenting this Flemish artist (Antwerp, 1958) for the first time in Italy, considered today as one of the most influential names on the international scene. The exhibition circuit, by curator Caroline Bourgeois in collaboration with Tuymans himself, is presenting over 80 works focused on his painting production between 1986 and our days, coming from the Pinault Collection, as well as from international museums and private collections.

The exhibition, inspired by the title of a famous novel by Curzio Malaparte published in 1949, deals with themes from past and recent history, but also with everyday subjects drawn from a repertoire of images from his personal and public sphere, acquired through the press, television or the web.

The exhibition includes a site-specific work, created specifically by the artist for the venues at Palazzo Grassi.
