THE LAST CRUSADE | Francesco Morosini in Serene Republic historiography.

Set up in the Portego Hall until 16 June,  this exhibition is opening the 400th birth anniversary celebrations for Francesco Morosini, a famous Venetian condottiero, “Sea captain” and Doge, established in history as the “Peloponnesian”.

Thanks to historians of that age such as Pietro Garzoni and Vincenzo Coronelli, in addition to Morosini’s figure the exhibition shows places and events, like the map of the Peninsula and kingdom of Morea with views, blueprints and the depictions of fortresses in that region.

The showcase closes with some splendid and highly detailed, drawn and printed battle layouts, included in manuscripts and etchings collections.
