Holy See Pavilion • Vatican Chapels | 16TH INT. ARCHITECTURE EXHIBITION – BIENNALE

An important new presence in Venice, after the one at the Visual Arts Biennale, by the Holy See, attending the international Architecture Exhibition this time.
Ten chapels planned by the same number of well-known architecture studios are inserted for this occasion within the suggestive scenario of the wooded garden at the island of San Giorgio along Saint Mark’s basin.
The exhibition circuit, by curator Francesco Dal Co, is introduced by the so-called “eleventh chapel”, created by architects Francesco Magnani and Traudy Pelzel and inspired by the language of traditional Scandinavian wooden buildings. Starting from this model, originating in 1920, each architect has been invited to reflect on the theme of a chapel “as a place for finding bearings, meeting, meditation and greeting”.
