PAINTING LIGHT | Burano and its painters

Open until 30 April 2020.

Burano, the perfect stereotype of a lagoon island, has been an inspiring setting ever since the past century for the artists who made the history of lagoon views.

Through a nucleus of works, hailing from the prestigious Ca’ Pesaro Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery collection, this exhibition seeks to focus on an output which brought this island and its painting Prize to the centre of an important and lively debate on modern art after the Second World War. It was the era of Gino Rossi, Arturo Martini, Ugo Valeri, Luigi Scopinich, Umberto Moggioli, Felice Casorati and then, over the following years, of Pio Semeghini.

The exhibition curators are Chiara Squarcina and Elisabetta Barisoni.
