Art and Life at PGC

Art cannot be separated from life, it is the expression of the greatest need of which life is capable.

four new encounters between art and literature, fashion cinema and philosophy

It is time to return to listen to the words of Professor Alessandra Montalbetti, Pinacoteca di Brera, who from 25 January will be the protagonist of four new, engaging meetings, live on Zoom, that will bring together art and literature, fashion, philosophy and cinema.

Over 450 members in the first round of meetings

After the success of the first cycle, with over 450 members who participated with enthusiasm and passion, thus supporting the museum still closed, continues the online art history course “L’Arte è Vita”: appointments reserved for museum members and those who will join for the occasion or renew their Membership card, taking advantage of the 30% reduction, valid until January 31, 2021

The themes of everyday life is the second part of the meetings

The second part of the course will continue to be dedicated to the themes of our daily life that have deep links with the history of art but that we do not always know how to grasp. “I believe that every combination covered during the lessons can arouse interest, precisely because it is unprecedented”, says Professor Montalbetti. “Philosophy can be a very complicated topic, but the use of images makes it more passable.

Literature has historical links with art from Homer’s first description of achilles’ shield, but I believe that the most incredible discovery will be the combination of art and fashion, a fundamental theme in our image society”.

Art and literature

To open this second cycle, Monday 25 January at 7 pm, a lesson dedicated to art and literature. “Those who do not read, at 70 years old will have lived only one life: their own! Those who read will have lived 5,000 years: there was when Cain killed Abel, when Renzo married Lucia, when Leopardi admired the infinite… “. This is how Umberto Eco wrote, and the link between art and literature emerges in the texts in which the writer assumes a pictorial quality in his narrative descriptions, or in those in which the relationship of esteem and friendship between artists is highlighted, even if they are centuries away, as a source of inspiration, not forgetting those who have fictionalted the lives of artists, with great poetic licenses.

Support the museum

The proceeds of the course, in the form of a tax-deductible liberality of 50 euros per cycle, support the museum.

While waiting for the places of culture to reopen, we continue to keep our spirit and mind trained, in the hope of being able to enjoy again as soon as possible the beauty of the masterpieces of our countless cities of art.
