Museums in Venice reopen during carnival period

February is carnival time that this year will be held online, but carnival is not just a show, the Venice Carnival is a no. to carefreeness, lightness and fun. It is the month of lovers with Valentine’s Day and in this perspective the Museums with their exhibitions find that dialogue with the art and history of the city. An opportunity to

From February 1st the first openings of the museums

In compliance with the regulations to guarantee covid 19 regulations in Venice, all the main museums have planned the reopenings.

Museums of the “Museum Pole of Cultural Heritage” first to give news but not only

The first to give news of the desire to reopen, were the State Museums that opened as early as February 3rd and followed the main Museums in the following days.

Palazzo Grimani, the National Archaeological Museum and the Giorgio Franchetti Gallery at the Ca d’Oro to mention the main ones in the city

But they weren’t alone for long.

A chain of good news from museums

It has been a news chain of openings by all museums, from the Peggy Guggenheim Collection that opens from today 4 February reservations for the opening of February 11 and throughout the month of February will open on Thursday and Friday.

At Palazzo Grassi which with free admission throughout the month of February will open on Thursdays and Fridays

The Giorgio Cini Foundation that reopens to the public the Sala Carnelutti with the installation Laguna Murano Chandelier by Dale Chihuly, special section of the Venice exhibition and the American Glass Studio

these are of course only a few, but many others are already being activated.

Venetian Civic Museums reopen in advance

The Appeal was missing the Venetian Civic Museums whose reopening was scheduled in April, but which at Carnival give a first appointment of 4 days with Palazzo Ducale and Museo Correr and from March new openings for:

  • Glass Museum in Murano
  • International Gallery of Modern Art in Ca’ Pesaro
  • Giancarlo Ligabue Museum of Natural History.

After a long wait, venetians and Venetians will be able to return to their Museums, rediscovering that dialogue with the art and history of the city that the pandemic has denied for many months.

An appointment designed in conjunction with the carnival that this year is all digital to offer, to those in the region who have been waiting for a long time and ask to return to visit them, the opportunity to meet again the beauty of Venice kept in these extraordinary places of art.

From Carnival to the reopening of museums

The Venice Carnival is online, but nothing prevents those who visit the city from experiencing it. Disguise and not ressa is the very essence of the party, where masks and costumes become indispensable tools to realize the climate of this time of year, dedicated to transgression, light-heartedness, lightness and fun.

The streets, the fields, the streets, will not turn for this edition into a great stage in which everything seems to become possible for the guarantee of total anonymity. But the spirit of the party that can be made its own. A simple mask (to be worn over surgeries of course) is a way to escape and relax.

The city’s museums and Venice itself are waiting for you in this February which is also lovers’ month, which is better than a visit.
